How the Reporting Process Works

    Trained staff members will review your report and assess the appropriate response.

    Based on the nature of the report, we will take appropriate action which may include internal review, referral to authorities, or connecting you with resources.

    If you provided contact information and requested follow-up, we will reach out according to your preferences.

We may retain submitted information for a period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Mandatory Reporting Laws

Under Virginia law, certain individuals are required to report suspected child abuse or neglect. These mandatory reporters include teachers, healthcare providers, clergy, and others specified in Virginia Code ยง63.2-1509.

If your report involves suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, we may be legally required to forward this information to Child Protective Services or law enforcement, regardless of whether you choose to submit anonymously.
